When I first heard of this movie I didn’t think I was going to like it. I expected the typical love movies of a man who is really weird and he’s trying to go out with a girl. I expected to see a few scenes with a lot of comedy. I’ve always loved comedy movies because whenever I’m mad or stress about something, it clears my mind and adds a smile to my face.

My expectations for this movie were obviously met. After several minutes of watching the movie I knew that it was about a man with strange character trying to pick up a girl and ends up loosing her, but finally concludes to him going out with her. The best parts which had comedy was when he kept on going to the washrooms because he was allergic to spicy food but he ate it to impress her.

The writing of this movie was like the usual typical romantic comedy. The punch lines were usually the same aas every other comedy movie. He does something something and the girl gets mad and leaves him.

Once again, the directing from this movie was the same as every other one. There wasn’t any special that showed special effects or hard work. It was a simple movie that seemed as if it was made on the spot. Although, the directing was well done.

Ben Stiller has always been one of my favorite actors. He always played the funniest movies such as “Meet the Fockers” and “Meet the Parents”. As well as Jennifer Aniston, I always found her so attracting and she played her roles so beautifully.

I would definitly recommend this movie to too guys who want to learn how to get a girl, which would be to do things that she loves to do such as dancing. This movie should be shown to whoever loves funny movies, full of laughter.

This had to be the best movie I’ve ever watched my whole life. The previous batman movies have been out since many years ago but I was always to young to understand what was going on. Ever since I was a child, I’ve always loved action movies. I find it gives such a rush seeing that you never know what’s going to happen next. On the other hand, you have horror movies and same old boring romantic movies. Unlike romantic movies, action movies have shooting, car crashes, explosions, and much more. In an action movie, seeing that there such be “action” I would expect to see shooting. When I hear action, the first thing I think of his shooting. Second, action movies should always keep you thinking, making you want to know what’s going to happen next. I expect an action movie to always keep me at the edge of my seat, maybe sometimes make me fall off!

My expectations were definitely met. This movie always kept me on the edge of my seat and I was never able to figure out what was going to happen next. Especially when Batman had to save either Harvey Dent or Rachel Dawes. I thought that the movie was going to end by Batman saving one of them but after that scene, the movie kept on going for about an hour or more.

Most action movies make it big because of the action and special effects that are put into it and the writing is usually left for last. Unlike these action movies, the writing and script of The Dark Knight was astonishing. The Joker played the best role and he always had the best punch lines. These lines sometimes added a bit of comedy to the movie which was fantastic. Honestly, without the Joker I don’t think the movie was going to be so fabulous.

Something that I’ve haven’t seen yet in any other movie is how the director thought of a great idea to make Gotham City a city full of crime and darkness. The directing was also great because the lighting and camera angles matched the situation of the movie, adding fear to the Joker’s face.

The acting in the movie was phenomenal. Like I mentioned before, the Joker was the best actor in the movie, seeing that he perfectly fit his scene and had the best lines. The only defect I found with the acting was Batman, Christian Bale’s, voice. His voice out of the Batman suit was completely different when he was dresses as Batman. I found it to be a little exaggerated.

It’s about a year now that I work at Cinemas Guzzo therefore I saw Batman the day it came out and man was it full! We had two halls booked just for that movie. In general, I would recommend this movie to those who love noise, action, and always being at the edge of their seat. The age group would probably fit teenagers seeing that the Joker’s remarks and scenes in the movie would catch the attention of teenagers.

To evaluate my project I had to commence several tests that would assure me that my artist portfolio was a success. When I first researched the rules in creating an artist portfolio on Concordia University’s website, I found some rules on how it specifically had to be. Therefore, after hours of thinking on my own, I came up with several tests in which I found proof that my portfolio was a success and held the requirements of an artist portfolio for a University.

These were the requirements:

Original work must be flat and measure no more than 60 x 90 cm (24” x 36”)

Larger and three-dimensional works must be presented in slides, photographs, or digital images.

CD-Roms must indicate which operating system it can use (MAC or PC)

All slides and photographs should be numbered and labeled with the applicant’s name and accompanied by a reference sheet indicating the name of the work.

Slides should be submitted in a clear plastic sheet.

Portfolio cases/containers must be no larger than 60 x 90 cm (24” x 36”) and labelled on the outside with the student’s name.

The artist’s portfolio must be portable.

In order to make sure my portfolio was a success, I performed some tests of my own according to the requirements:

I will check if my artist portfolio is portable.

I will check if my CD-Rom works in both a MAC or a PC.

I will check if my CD is easily breakable.

I will count how many slides my artist portfolio.

I will create a small focus group of three people.

Now that I know which tests I needed to do in order to have a successful portfolio, I will explain what exactly I did to see if my tests were a success. First off, testing if my artist portfolio was portable was very easy. I took my CD and transported it to school back to my house for several days. Each day changing pocket, first I would put it in my pants pocket, then my jacket pocket, and last my school bag. After performing this test, I encountered that it was a success. Seeing that I have both a MAC and a PC, when I came home I insert my CD inside my MAC and my PC and fortunately it worked in both. Now that this test was successful, any owner will be able to view my portfolio either on their MAC or PC. Reaching step three, I took a blank CD which was the same as the one I used for my artist portfolio and bent it, seeing if it would crack. Obviously, if I would bend it in half really hard it would crack but a few bent angles won’t break the CD. To check how many slides I have in my artist portfolio, I will easily count how many pages I have. Finally, choosing three colleagues in my class, I thought of three questions I can come up with which would give me a brief answer on how good I did and if I really made a better portfolio using technology.

In the end, did I make a better artist portfolio using technology?

Did my portfolio need any improvement?

Was my artist portfolio easy to understand? Were you able to easily view my photos?

When I got the results from my focus group, I was more than impressed with the results. Obviously, my portfolio wasn’t perfect but according to my focus group, my goal was met which was to make a better portfolio using technology. Many believed that my portfolio was easy to use and it was a better portfolio because it was portable, created with technology, and nice big pictures of my artwork. My artist portfolio met the requirements and it is also very cheap. One of my colleagues in my focus group believed that I should have added more writing to describe my pictures because the picture and size were there but I should of explained if a came with a frame or it that was the only size.

Now comes the time where I evaluate myself according to every step I had to encounter in order to finalize and complete my project.

Investigate: This was one of the most interesting and most important part of my project, the first step. Before I was able to begin my project I needed to search the Internet and understand exactly what an artist portfolio is as well as the requirements. I believe that I clearly found brief information on what an artist portfolio is and clearly shown at the top of the page, you can see that I found the requirements needed for an artist portfolio. I don’t believe that I needed to do more research at this step of my project.

Design: This step of the project probably felt the longest for me. I always hated drawing especially ten sketches. Although I hated this step, I had no choice to create several designs of my artist portfolio because it was part of the process. Unfortunately, after making my ten designs, my teacher wasn’t satisfied with them so the whole class needed to re-do them. I finally re-created my designs which took the longest time ever. I believe that this had to be the worst step of the project. To be honest, I don’t find that I put a lot of effort in those designs and they could have been improved. I could have added more detail to my designs and made them look more like the real copy. My InDesign sketching was terrible seeing that their wasn’t any color used and not all the sizes were shown.

Planning: I found that my planning stage had to be the best blog I’ve ever done. I find that in this step I’ve done everything that was asked as well as evaluating my planning blog at the end which I don’t think too many people did. The first planning blog I did didn’t go to well because after several absences and battles for computers I didn’t get to use the computer every class as expected. Therefore in the creating phase, I modified my planning blog and followed it accurately. I honestly believe that I did a great job performing this step, I hope I’m right.

Creation: This was obviously the biggest part of the project. The creation phase was when we needed to create our artist portfolio and hand-it in as well as making a creation blog every week stating what was done during that week. The creation blogs were also used for design modifications which is what I mentioned before for my planning stage. I found that I successfully completed my project and met the requirements. I do believe that my creation blogs should have been more detailed.

In general, I am glad that I was able to create an artist portfolio all on my own without the help of anybody. I never knew what an artist portfolio was until third term. Hopefully, all the time spent on this project will result in a success and a great mark. It was a great experience doing this project.

Wow, the time has come to finally hand in this project in which we had to do all by ourselves with not much help. I am so glad that I finally completed the project without having to rush through and adding much more hours on my own time. Many colleagues in my class still have not finished their projects and will only do so the day of. During the weekend, including today, I worked hard on my CD Design and my CD Cover, finishing it on time making it look professional. I never knew that I was going to be able to create the CD Cover but fortunately I managed. Now that I am done with my artist portfolio, I can relax. To finish off my project, during the weekend I used Microsoft word to make my CD Cover and a program I used from my friend Corrado to make the CD Design.

Two months ago, I had to create designs on how I would “design” my artist portfolio. If you go back to my design blog on March 2nd, you will see that I had designed about ten different designs and I had chosen one from each division. When my teacher saw it, he wasn’t pleased with any of the designs therefore we had to make new ones. I also decided to use my air pollution photographs which I took last term because my teacher said that I could have used my previous art work and so those pictures were the best example. I will explain to you the three new final designs I will create and use for my artist portfolio.

Design Specification

CD DESIGN

My new CD Design will resemble a lot my artist portfolio. The whole background of my CD Design will be the picture I used for my cover page in my artist portfolio. This picture is called “The Smoking Candle”. At the top center of the CD, I will have my name, David Fatigati’s, written in Monotype Corsive font and size 24 regular. At the bottom center of the CD, I will have “Artist Portfolio” in the same size and font as my name. Therefore, my CD Design will look much nicer seeing that it’s nicely decorated and it will one of my art work.

CD COVER

I will create my Cd cover using the a well-known program used by many people, Microsoft Word. My Cd cover will have four of my art works surrounded by black borders. Leaving about an inch of space at the top, I will put “David Fatigati’s” at the top and “Artist Portfolio” at the bottom in the center top of the CD cover. The hold cover will be surrounded by a black border.

IN DESIGN PAGES

Finally, the longest and most important part of the process is my “Creation”. As I mentioned several times in my previous blogs, for my creation I used the program In Design in which I will make my portfolio. Before I start explaining, I would like to inform the reader that my whole In Design artist portfolio has monotype corsiva writing. The cover page of my portfolio will have a title that says David Fatigati’s Artist Portfolio in size 48 regular. Under the title I will put a very big picture of my best art work which is The Smoking Candle. At the top left of the picture I will put the size and at the right I will put the name of the picture. At the bottom center of the page I put Contact, underlined and under that still centered I put my cell number, fax number, and my e-mail. The second page will have my artist statement. The title will be Artist Statement and size 42 regular. My artist statement was divided into three paragraphs and each paragraph is surrounded by a black border and inside it is the color yellow. My third page is where I begin my photo gallery. The next five pages will hold a picture taken by me. At the top of each picture there is going be the title in the center with size 36. Every picture will also be surrounded by a different border for each picture. At the bottom center of each picture for the following five pages, their will be the size.

As you can see, these final designs are much more different compare to the ones I had originally designed. Therefore, here is a new design to explain a little on how my artist portfolio will look like.

The authority parents have towards their children is slowing diminishing throughout the years. Many children and teenagers today always get their way. A parent’s responsibility is to raise their child teaching them how to respect themselves and others, also to be responsible. Clearly, the daughter has no respect for herself and in my terms, she’s a spoiled little brat. The case which occurred on April 9th clearly shows how a parent’s authority has diminished. I believe that due to this case, many teenagers will believe that the ideal thing to do if a parent grounds them would be to sue them. The appeals court strictly warned in its ruling that the case should not be seen as an open invitation for children to take legal action against their parents when grounded.

I honestly find it absurd how the father could have lost the case. A parent should be able to raise their child which ever way they want, without having a judge decide how they can punish their child. A twelve year old disrespecting herself on the Internet shouldn’t be stopped from going on a New York trip, they should be ground for several months.

I believe that the twelve year old spoiled brat shouldn’t have won that case. I understand if the father would have abused her but he didn’t. He clearly acted like a responsible parent wanting to take care of their child which would be to stop her from going on her New York trip. I also find it absurd how the mother of this child disagrees with the father. How can a mother take the daughter’s side over the father and help her through the process of suing. Although the parents are divorced, the mom should be responsible and support the father. To conclude, I completely disagree with the case and the father should have won. Better yet, the daughter should have never been able to sue her father.

This create blog is the same as my design blog just that I am re-creating my planning blog. Due to lose of time and battles for computers, my planning did not go as good as I expected. Several weeks ago we also found out that our project was extend to April 29th, the day where we needed to hand in our creation which would be my CD. My new planning blog will not start at March 9th like the old one. It will start at April 8th, a day where we have Media. Seeing that the due date was extend and I was not able to use the computer every day as I thought I could have, I changed my planning to the following:

Design Specification

Class 1: April 8th, 2009 (Day-8): Seeing that we had an extension for our due date, by this time I had already my cover page, and artist statement completed. By this time my whole project should have been originally completed but due to the extension, the process of my project had decreased. Today, I will begin my photo gallery which will hold all five of my photographs, excluding the one in my cover page.

Class 2: April 14th, 2009 (Day-1): Today, I will continue to do my photo gallery seeing that by now I will be at my second page of the photo gallery, which is the second picture. The second half of the class I will switch with somebody giving them the opportunity to go on.

Class 3: April 16th, 2009 (Day-3): Today, I will try my best to finish of two other pages of my photo gallery so that my next class I can finish it off. After half the class, I will once again let someone go one because it is only fair. Seeing that I can come in on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9:30, I will have plenty of time to finish of my work.

Class 4: April 21st, 2009 (Day-6): Seeing that I am almost done and that I will have two hours to work on my project Wednesday April 22, I will let someone else use the computer and work on their project.

April 22nd, 2009 (Wednesday): Wow, so early. Today I will finish off my project and make sure that I have minimum five pictures in my project. I also need to save my project as a PDF file so that it can be opened on any computer. If I do not do that, whoever does not have In Design will not be able to use my CD which will not be so professional. Now that my project has been completed seven days before the due date, I can work on my CD Cover and my CD Design on my own free time at home.

Once again, I believe that this new plan will be successful because now that it is closer to the due date, I will be sure to follow it and do exactly what I wrote down. If I can follow this plan, I will not have to stress two days before the due date like everyone else will and risk the chance of not getting a computer. This plan will keep me organized, up to date, and prepared for what has to come. I need to keep in mind that this is not my only class so planning my work will relax my mind.

Design Specifications

When I created my planning blog, I had planned it according to what I thought was going to happen. Unfortunately, when I began my photo gallery, I realized that three pictures per page was impossible. The pictures had to be a wallet size for it to fit perfect, including the size measurements for each picture. Therefore I decided to modify my portfolio, (Design Specification), I put one picture per page making it very big so that the gallery owner can clearly see the picture and at the top of the picture I added the name of the photo. At the bottom of the picture I also added the size. I will be doing this for each other photo I add in my portfolio. Since I chose my best art work, I will add a total of six photographs in my artist portfolio which will result in a seven page portfolio.

Technology has become part of our every-day-lives. Throughout the years, technology has modernized and improved giving us the opportunity to do everything online without having to leave our homes. People can do grocery shopping online, pay their bills, and can also have online courses. Technology has also brought us many video games, and music players. Technology has given us the opportunity to save time and money. The catch to all this is that students and adults are getting to comfortable with the fact that everything is given to them on the Internet.

Technology not only provides us with everything but it offers a new distraction to students. Students don’t want to read class books anymore because today, a website is offer to students called “Sparknotes”. In this site, all they need to do it enter the title of the book and all the information is given to them. Students have also stopped worrying about their spelling mistakes on word document because they are now offered a grammar “spell check” which highlights all their mistakes. They no longer take the time to view their mistakes in the dictionary, although dictionaries can be used on the Internet as well. Today, technology creates lazy students because technology is no more only used for Microsoft word document. Student replace homework with video games and music. They got used to the freedom of technology and have used it to an extreme.

By this time, I am suppose to have completed my second page of my artist portfolio which is suppose to be the biography but I replaced it with my artist statement. Unfortunately, I am only at my cover page but by next class I am planning to have finished it and start my artist statement.

Design Modifications

Inside my planning blog, I said that by March 24th, I was going start my biography blog but I modified my artist portfolio. I decided not to put my biography instead I added my artist portfolio. When I first made my planning blog, I didn’t know we had to do an artist statement. Therefore I decided to remove my biography and put in my artist statement.
